Uterine prolapse isn’t something most women talk about. But it’s more common than many realise, especially after childbirth or with age. If you’ve been feeling a heaviness in your lower belly, pressure, discomfort while sitting or walking, or a sense that “something is falling,” it could be your uterus slipping out of its normal position.
You may have been silently adjusting, sitting differently, avoiding long walks, trying to push through.
You’ve carried this quietly long enough. You don’t have to keep adjusting or pretending it’s fine. At Dr. Sidapara Sankalp Hospital, we’re here with surgical solutions that are not just safe and effective, but offered with patience, clarity, and care that always respects your pace.
Uterine prolapse happens when the muscles and tissues that usually hold your uterus in place get weaker, often after childbirth, with age, or simply from years of strain. When that support gives way, the uterus can begin to slip down into the vaginal canal. For some, it’s just a slight shift. For others, it may feel like something is pushing or bulging out. Either way, it’s your body’s way of asking for support and you don’t have to ignore it.
It’s not dangerous in the early stages, but it can affect how you move, how you feel, and even how you view your own body. And left untreated, it can get worse over time.
These symptoms may come and go, but if they’re affecting your comfort or confidence, it’s time to have a conversation.
In many cases, we begin with simpler, non-surgical treatments, like pelvic floor exercises or using a support device (called a pessary). These can offer relief, especially in the early stages. But when the prolapse becomes more severe, or when it starts interfering with your daily life, surgery can offer a more lasting solution.
We usually consider surgery if:
We’ll never rush you into a decision. If and when surgery is the right step, we’ll walk you through it with honesty and care.
We offer two main types of surgery for uterine prolapse. The right one for you depends on your age, whether you want to have children in the future, and how much the uterus has slipped.
If you want to keep your uterus
We can gently lift and support it using stitches or a soft mesh. This helps hold it in place and relieve your symptoms, without removing the uterus.
If you’re past childbearing
We may suggest removing the uterus and then supporting the vaginal walls from inside. This prevents the prolapse from coming back and helps you feel stable and comfortable again.
No matter which surgery is right for you, we make sure it’s done carefully, with small cuts whenever possible, and always with respect for your body and your choices.
Most importantly, the sense of pressure and heaviness is usually gone and in its place comes lightness, relief, and confidence.
Prolapse can make you feel like your body isn’t listening to you anymore. Like something that was once simple, sitting, walking, laughing, now takes extra effort or thought. But that’s not the end of your story.
Whether your symptoms are just starting or have been bothering you for years, we’re here to help you feel steady, supported, and more like yourself again.
You deserve to move through your day without worry. To sit comfortably, live freely, and feel at ease in your own body. And when you’re ready to take that next step, we’ll be right here, ready to walk it with you.
