Cervical Cancer Screening

Most cervical cancers don’t start with pain, symptoms, or even a warning. They start quietly, with small changes in the cells of the cervix that build up over time. The good news? We can catch those changes early, long before they become dangerous. And when we do, treatment is simpler, recovery is easier, and life goes on.

That’s the strength of routine cervical checks, more than a test, it’s protection that could save your life.

At Dr Sidapara Sankalp Hospital we offer safe, gentle, and judgment-free screening that respects your comfort and your time.

What Is Cervical Cancer Screening?

Cervical screening involves two main tests: the Pap smear and HPV testing. These tests don’t diagnose cancer, they help detect cell changes and high-risk viruses that could lead to cancer if left unchecked.

  • Pap Smear: Looks at the cells from your cervix to find any abnormal changes
  • HPV Test: Detects the presence of high-risk HPV strains that are linked to most cervical cancers

Together, they give us a clear picture of your cervical health,  and what steps, if any, need to follow.

When Should You Get Screened?

General guidelines we follow:

  • Women should start Pap smears at age 21, even if not sexually active
  • Between 25–65, HPV testing and Pap smears may be done every 3–5 years, depending on results and risk factors
  • If you’ve had an abnormal result in the past, more frequent follow-up may be needed
  • Even if you’ve had the HPV vaccine, screenings are still important

Not sure when your last test was or if you need one now? We’re happy to check and guide you.

The Screening Experience at Dr Sidapara Sankalp Hospital

We know this test can feel awkward or uncomfortable, especially the first time. That’s why we take extra care to make it feel easy, respectful, and private.

Here’s what to expect:

  • A calm explanation of the procedure before anything begins
  • A female-led clinical team, trained in gentle technique
  • A quiet, private space for your test, no rush, no crowd
  • The actual sample takes just a few minutes
  • Follow-up support to explain your results clearly

You can ask anything. You can pause anytime. You’re in control.

Why Regular Screening Matters

Most cervical cancers are preventable, but only if they’re caught early. That’s where regular screening makes the difference.

It helps:

  • Catch abnormal cells before they become cancer
  • Identify HPV infections early
  • Lower the chances of needing intensive treatments or surgical procedures down the line
  • Give you peace of mind that you’re doing the right thing for your future

It’s a small step that protects something big.

If You’ve Delayed Screening, You’re Not Alone

Many women skip cervical tests because of fear, discomfort, or just life getting in the way. We understand. Whether it’s been a few years or you’ve never had one, there’s no judgment here, only support. You don’t have to explain why. You just have to show up. We’ll take it from there, gently and respectfully.

Whether it’s your first test or your fifth, we’ll help you feel prepared, informed, and at ease. Screening for cervical cancer isn’t something to fear,  it’s something to feel empowered by. Make your appointment today. One simple test could protect your health for years to come.
