Endometriosis (chocolate cyst) surgery

When Pain Isn’t Just ‘Normal’ Anymore

If you’ve been living with heavy periods, pain during intimacy, or a dull ache that won’t go away, you’re not imagining it. You’re not overreacting. And no, it’s not just “part of being a woman.” Your pain is real, and it deserves answers.

It might be endometriosis, a condition that’s often misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and sadly, ignored for far too long. At Dr. Sidapara Sankalp Hospital, we take this seriously. We listen. We investigate. And when needed, we offer focused, fertility-preserving surgery, not just to remove what hurts, but to help you reclaim comfort and clarity in your life again.

What Exactly Is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis happens when the tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus starts growing outside it, often on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or even the lining of the pelvis. Each month, that tissue responds to hormones like a period would, except there’s nowhere for the blood to go. Over time, it causes inflammation, pain, scar tissue, and cysts.

One common sign is the formation of what’s called a chocolate cyst, an endometrioma, on the ovary. It’s a pocket filled with old blood and tissue, and it can cause pain, especially during periods or intimacy.

When Is Surgery Needed?

Not every case needs surgery. But we consider it when:

  • When the pain starts to take over your day or makes it hard to live your life the way you used to
  • Hormonal treatments aren’t helping
  • Endometriosis is interfering with fertility
  • Large chocolate cysts are present on the ovaries
  • Organs like the bowel or bladder are involved
  • You’ve had repeated flare-ups despite treatment

The decision is never rushed. We walk through every option with you,  medical and surgical, before recommending anything.

Our Surgical Approach: Gentle, Precise, and Respectful

At our hospital, we perform laparoscopic excision surgery for endometriosis using 3D technology This means:

  • Tiny cuts in the abdomen, no big scars
  • A small 3D camera helps us locate even deep or hidden endometriotic spots
  • We carefully remove the cysts and abnormal tissue
  • Healthy ovarian tissue is preserved whenever possible
  • You go home soon after and recover faster than with open surgery

If you’re trying to conceive, we tailor the procedure to support your fertility, not jeopardise it.

What Recovery Feels Like

After surgery, most women notice a significant drop in pain. Cycles feel easier. That dull daily ache eases. And for many, there’s a quiet sense of finally being heard and helped.

You may still need medical management afterward, endometriosis doesn’t have a one-size-fits-all fix. But with surgery, the burden becomes lighter, the path clearer.
