Adolescent Gynaecological Concerns

What is adolescent gynaecology?

Adolescent gynaecology focuses on the health needs of girls and young women, usually between the ages of 10 and 19, as their bodies begin to change and mature. This stage brings along its own set of challenges, irregular periods, cramps, early or delayed puberty, hormonal changes, and confusion around what’s “normal.”

It’s not just about the body. It’s about emotions, self-esteem, and giving young girls the confidence to understand what’s happening to them without fear or shame. Unfortunately, many girls suffer silently because they’re too afraid or embarrassed to speak up.

For a teenager, the body starts sending a lot of new signals. Some of them make sense, but many don’t. First periods can be unpredictable. Breasts may grow unevenly. Hair appears in new places. Cramps hurt more than expected. And mood swings may come out of nowhere.

Often, they won’t tell you what’s wrong,  because they’re not sure themselves.

At Dr Sidapara Sankalp Hospital, we make space for those small, quiet signs. We speak to both the young patient and the parent, with respect, care, and no assumptions. Our goal isn’t just treatment. It’s trust.

Conditions We Commonly Treat

  • Irregular or missed periods
  • Painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea)
  • Heavy or very light bleeding
  • Vaginal discharge concerns
  • Early or delayed onset of puberty
  • Acne and hair growth tied to hormonal shifts
  • Breast development issues
  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
  • Thyroid disorders
  • Mood changes linked to hormonal cycles

Sometimes, we see girls who just want to know if their development is on track. That’s perfectly valid too.

Services We Offer

  • Friendly, non-judgmental consultations
  • Hormonal evaluations (only if needed)
  • Pelvic ultrasound (if required and explained fully)
  • Period tracking support and education
  • Diagnosis and management of PCOS or thyroid issues
  • Pain and cycle regulation
  • Help with hygiene, lifestyle, and nutrition
  • Guidance on safe and age-appropriate information about reproductive health
  • Emotional support when puberty feels overwhelming

We always explain every step. No surprises. No pressure. And we involve the parent at every stage, while still giving the girl her own space and comfort.

Our Approach

Teenagers don’t want to feel like patients. And they definitely don’t want to feel judged.

So we create a space that’s calm and warm, not clinical. We speak in a way that’s honest, clear, and friendly. Whether it’s their first visit or they’re dealing with something ongoing, we move at their pace. We give them the chance to ask questions, express fears, or even just listen quietly. Every concern is valid. No symptom is ever “too small.”

Benefits of Early Care

Many gynaecological issues that show up later in life begin quietly during adolescence, PCOS, thyroid disorders, or hormonal irregularities. Addressing them early can prevent years of discomfort and confusion.

But beyond the medical side, there’s a bigger reason to start early: confidence. When a young girl understands her body, trusts her doctor, and feels heard, she becomes someone who takes charge of her health for life.

That’s the kind of foundation we aim to build.

You don’t need to wait for something to go wrong. If she’s confused, in pain, or simply has questions, that’s enough to book a visit. We’re here to listen, explain, and support, with no rush and no judgement.
