Endometrial Polyp Removal

Sometimes the reason behind unusual bleeding or fertility struggles turns out to be something quite small, a soft tissue growth inside the uterus known as an endometrial polyp. Many women live with it unknowingly, while for others, it quietly disrupts cycles, comfort, or even chances of pregnancy.

At Dr. Sidapara Sankalp Hospital, we remove these polyps gently using a simple hysteroscopic method, no cuts, no stitches, and usually no need for an overnight stay. It’s a small step that often brings clarity, relief, and a sense of balance back to your body.

Endometrial Polyp?

An endometrial polyp is a small, soft growth that forms on the inner lining of the uterus. You can think of it as a little extra bit of tissue, usually harmless, but in some cases, it can cause symptoms or get in the way of your plans. It can be round, flat, or shaped like a little stalk, and while it’s usually non-cancerous, it can still cause discomfort or stand in the way of getting pregnant.

Many women don’t even know they have one until a scan picks it up, often while looking into other concerns like:

  • Irregular or unusually heavy periods
  • Spotting between cycles
  • Bleeding after menopause
  • Trouble conceiving without a clear reason
  • Unexpected bleeding after intimacy

It’s small, but if it’s affecting your body or your plans, it deserves attention and care.

When Should It Be Removed?

We may recommend removing a polyp if:

  • It’s causing unusual or persistent bleeding
  • It shows up during your fertility workup
  • You’re planning to conceive and we want to clear the uterine space
  • The polyp appears larger, multiple, or slightly unusual on scan
  • You’ve had previous pregnancy losses and want to rule out obstacles

We don’t rush to remove every polyp. But when it matters, we act early — with clarity and care.

How the Procedure Works

We use a technique called hysteroscopic polypectomy. Here’s what you can expect:

  • A thin camera is passed through the cervix to gently enter the uterus
  • The polyp is clearly visualised and carefully removed
  • No cuts are made on your skin, it’s all done internally
  • You’ll be given mild sedation or anaesthesia to stay comfortable
  • The entire procedure takes around 20–30 minutes
  • Most women go home the same day

What Recovery Looks Like

  • You may have light cramping or spotting for a day or two
  • Most women are back to normal activities within 24–48 hours
  • If the polyp was affecting your cycle or fertility, you may notice improvements quickly
  • We send the polyp for testing to rule out anything concerning, just to be sure
  • Follow-ups are scheduled to check how you’re doing and what comes next
